About the education - overview

The masters programme starts with a half year with four courses in sequence analysis, biostatistics, programmimg and advanced sequence analysis (BINP11 Bioinformatics and sequence analysis, BINP12 Biostatistics, BINP13 Programming in Perl och BINP14 Large-scale sequence analysis of whole genomes, each 7,5 ECTS). The following half year contains courses in expression analysis, structural biology and a continued course in Perl-programming and database construction. bioinformatics and eligible courses. The second year contains eligible courses and projects, including a project corresponding to minimum 30 ECTS (diploma project in bioinformatics).

When?

The full programme starts fall 2009, but the first four courses (BINP11-14) are given every fall.

Who can apply?

The Master programme in Bioinformatics is open to both foreign and Swedish students with a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent degree: - a bachelor's degree in molecular biology, biomedicine, chemistry, biotechnology. or - a bachelor's degree in physics, computer science, mathematics or statistics and knowledge in at least 15ECTS cellbiology/biochemistry.

For students from outside Scandinavia not having English as native language Proficiency in English is also required.

Selection will be based on previous academic studies.
