What is Bioinformatics?

Bioinformatics is a new subject, spanning over biology, medicine, computer science and statistics intertwine and needed to collect, store, interpret and understand the biological sequence information in proteins and DNA. Bioinformatics is important for research and development in areas like biology, medicine, ecology, agriculture and forestry.

Welcome to the Bioinformatics Master Programme!

The master programme is two years. The first year starts with four courses during the fall semester (see below), followed by courses in expression analysis, structural biology and applied programming. The second year contains project and/or other eligible courses.

The full master programme is given, at the earliest, 2010/11. During 09/10 only the first four courses are given, BINP11, BINP12, BINP13 and BINP14. They can be taken as single courses.

The following four courses will be given during the fall 2009 semester. Click on any of them for more information, schedules and responsible teachers. All courses will be given in english.
